3 Design Trends To Watch Out For In 2019

2019 is looking to be a year with increased growth in both residential and commercial building. Take a look at three things to expect in new builds this year.

1. Natural Elements

Expect to see designers making a big push to increase natural elements in 2019. From greenery to increased natural lighting, there will be plenty of the outdoors… indoors. Look for plant walls, indoor gardens, and an increased amount of potted plants and trees to be incorporated into interior design themes. Large exterior windows, walls and doors will also be making an appearance to let the sun shine in and make and serve as a statement piece in the architectural design. For its part, science also agrees with the benefits of natural elements in design, especially in the workplace. If you’re anything like us, you can’t wait to see all the new builds incorporating the great outdoors!

2. Multifunctional Spaces

In 2019, less is definitely more. Homeowners and business are looking for spaces that can be used in multiple ways. In the era of tiny homes and co-working spaces, the line between open space design and no privacy can often seem nonexistent. In new building projects this year, expect to see designers attempt to solve this problem with space division products that can provide both privacy and open into multifunctional spaces.

3. Sustainability

Guess what… it’s 2019 and sustainable design is bigger than ever! Look for more architects and designers to choose materials that are environmentally friendly. Energy efficient windows, doors, and glass walls will become more common in residential and commercial building as architects look towards LEED and NFRC compliant products.
